NES welcomed two new staff members this week, and interestingly, both are returning to the firm after previous time at NES! Jason Alwine, PLA, joins NES as a Senior Associate, and Andrea Papierski, PLA, as a Project Manager.
Jason Alwine, PLA
Jason is a licensed landscape architect in Colorado and Arizona and holds an MBA. Jason brings 24 years experience in the Pikes Peak region working on complex planning projects. His expertise and experience in the evolving region is a huge asset to the community as he begins work on NES projects. In addition to his work experience, Jason has given his time as an active Housing & Building Association (HBA) volunteer serving as former Land Use Committee Chair and current Vice Chair of Public Policy. Jason is a Ball State University grad and a Hoosier, but Colorado has been his home since 2001 (where he first began his LA and planning career at NES!).
When asked what his favorite part of work is, Jason said he likes problem solving, especially on complex projects. He also enjoys site layout and designing communities for all to enjoy. He is excited to be a part of the continued legacy that NES has built over the last several decades and continue to work on projects that enhance our community, its residents and its guests. When he is not working, you will find Jason most likely mountain biking or hiking with his wife and dog, and if he had to pick a favorite Colorado spot…it would be Crested Butte.
Andrea Papierski, PLA
Though originally from the Midwest and a proud graduate of Ball State University, Andrea Papierski has called the Pikes Peak region home since 2016. With a strong focus on both functionality and creativity, Andrea specializes in crafting outdoor spaces that serve a range of project types, from commercial to residential and beyond.
Andrea has played an integral role in some of Colorado Springs’ most significant developments, including all four City for Champions projects: Robson Arena, the USAFA Visitor Center, Weidner Field (Switchbacks Stadium), and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum. These projects reflect her dedication to both technical precision and innovative design.
When asked what her favorite part of work is, Andrea said she loves construction documents and detailing and the construction process. She enjoys challenging infill sites, multi-family and campus projects. She is most looking forward to her time at NES to serve and design for the community where she lives and loves. When Andrea is not at work, you will most likely find her at her favorite spot in Colorado…ski slopes, or running and camping while juggling her active role as a foster parent.
Welcome to NES, Jason and Andrea — we’re glad to have you back!
