NES is pleased to announce Brooks Swenson’s new position as a Principal. In his new role, Brooks will join Chris Lieber and Andrea Barlow on the NES leadership team. A true “native” Coloradan, Brooks grew up in the Colorado Springs area and has spent the last eight years contributing his expertise in landscape architecture to NES projects. With a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from UC Denver, Brooks brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to his work—but did you know he also speaks both Spanish and Swedish? His international experiences include earning a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and spending a year in Sweden with the Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WOOF) program, where he gained hands-on experience in sustainable farming and integrating nature based placemaking.
Among the many projects Brooks has worked on, one stands out as the most rewarding: the Mosaica multifamily community, a unique for-rent neighborhood with a shared back yard concept. From zoning and planning to landscape design and construction, he had the opportunity to see this vision come to life, working alongside the owner to create a place where families can gather and kids can play outdoors! Brooks’ ability to blend thoughtful planning with innovative design has helped shape many spaces across the region, making a lasting impact on the communities NES serves.
As he steps into this new leadership role, Brooks is most excited about building on NES’s strong office culture while integrating cutting-edge planning and landscape architecture strategies. He looks forward to enhancing professional development opportunities for the NES team, ensuring they continue to lead the way in innovative and sustainable design. Please join us in congratulating Brooks on this exciting next step—felicitaciones, Brooks!
