Chris Lieber and Andrea Roman had the opportunity to present to Palmer Ridge High School (Monument) students during the Pathway Palooza event. The Pathway Palooza event was an opportunity for local professionals to engage with the high school students. Over 70 presenters representing 46 career paths provided stories on “their career pathway” and industry specific information. NES was invited to present on Landscape Architecture.

Chris provided his story of 30+ years working in landscape architecture hinged on his love of connecting outdoor places with people. Andrea shared her story of going from obtaining a civil engineering degree in Florida to becoming a landscape designer at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Chris and Andrea were able to share that not every pathway looks the same for everyone; however, the key is being open to opportunity and loving what you do.

In addition to sharing  their pathways, Chris and Andrea explained what landscape architecture is and isn’t, how it is intertwined with community, software and skills required, and walked the students through a project step by step (Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind playground).

All in all, Chris and Andrea had a great time and enjoyed walking the hallways like old times!
